Bloom2Bloom Seasonal Flower Care: How To Keep Tulips From Drooping
Nothing welcomes Springtime like seeing Tulips pop up everywhere—in the ground and at your farmers market! All flower care varies slightly, so here are a few tips specific to Tulip care:
Use a vase that has a narrow (small) opening at the top. Tulips will droop into any grooves (like the opening of a pitcher) or lean more if a vase has a wide opening.
Recut the stems at least an inch from where they were originally cut. This is pretty standard for any flower, but especially important with Tulips!
- Keep your flowers wrapped, in vase, overnight or for several hours after trimming. This will “condition” them to stay in a more upright position.
- Trim the stems a little, every time you change the water (which should be every 2-3 days).
